ECSJ Rules for Dressage Year End Awards

  • Junior riders - 18 years of age and younger as of December 1st.
  • Senior riders - 19 and older as of December 1st.
  • Scores for year-end awards follow the horse/rider team.
  • In all divisions up to and including fourth level, the median of the top three scores for a horse/rider team will be used to rank the winners. One score must be from the highest test of the level.
  • Scores for each horse/rider team must come from three different shows (dates) and three different judges.
  • The show season runs until November 30th.
  • For scores to count towards ECSJ year-end awards, riders must be ECSJ dressage members at the time of the show. Only ECSJ pointed shows will count toward year-end awards.
  • No scores will count toward year-end awards until all outstanding monies owed to ECSJ are paid in full.
  • Each horse/rider team may qualify for high score awards at 2 consecutive levels only.
  • Champion through 10th place will be awarded for all divisions.

Divisions will include:

  1. Starter Rider Walk/Trot Jr.
  2. Starter Rider Walk/Trot Sr.
  3. Starter Horse Walk/Trot (Jr. and Sr. combined)
  4. Starter Rider Walk/Trot/Canter Jr.
  5. Starter Rider Walk/Trot/Canter Sr.
  6. Starter Horse Walk/Trot/Canter (Jr. and Sr. combined)
  7. Training Level Jr.
  8. Training Level Sr. 14) Western Dressage Cumulative High Point Jr.
  9. First Level (Jr. and Sr. combined)
  10. Second Level (Jr. and Sr. combined)
  11. Third Level (Jr. and Sr. combined)
  12. Fourth Level (Jr. and Sr. combined)
  13. FEI Cumulative High Point (Jr. and Sr. combined)
  14. Western Dressage Cumulative High Point Jr.
  15. Western Dressage Cumulative High Point Sr.
  • Walk/Trot divisions will include Introductory Level Test A and Introductory Level Test B
  • Walk/Trot/Canter divisions will include Introductory Level Test C and Training Level Test 1
  • Achievement awards will be awarded to riders who earn one score of 60% or higher at any level in which they have not won a year end award.
  • Any horse/rider team who earns a year end championship for a certain division is no longer eligible to earn a year end award in the same division in subsequent years.
  • A starter rider may not cross enter into the starter horse division within the competition year. A starter horse may not cross enter into the starter rider division.
  • Starter horse divisions are open to horses that have not shown higher than Training Level Test 2 with any rider. Once a horse has shown successfully (above a 60%) in Training Level Test 2 (with any rider) that horse is no longer eligible to earn scores in a starter division. Any scores earned prior to a successful Training Level Test 2 score will count towards a starter horse division year end award.
  • Starter rider divisions are open to riders who have not shown higher than Training Level Test 2 on any horse. Once a rider has shown successfully (above a 60%) in Training Level Test 2 (with any horse) that rider is no longer eligible to earn scores in a starter division. Any scores earned prior to a successful Training Level Test 2 score will count towards a starter rider division year end award.
  • All results are final 10 days after the preliminary standings are posted.
